Happy 2011 everyone!

The rumors are true, I have started a company called Belly & Bones.

I joined forces with artist Stef Choi and business manager extraordinaire Eden Sosa in 2010 after realizing we all shared the vision of creating a platform to showcase ourselves as artists in this generation.

Here is a picture of a prop making project that we finished right before ringing in the new year. And yes, we created about 140 realistic chickens for a display. Slideshow coming soon!

Hello everyone! Its been so long since I have posted and you all have been so patient. Wonderful things are happening all around us and I am extremely excited to tell you about my new company called BELLY & BONES! This is one reason that I have been so absent from my blog.

More on that soon. For now, here is a slideshow of a project that I did for a company here in Portland called, The Great Society. They were hired to brand a theme for Brook's Athletic shoes called Brook's Cavalcade of curiosities!

I had the pleasure to work with talented seamstress Jessica Rogers on the fabrication of the project. Thanks Jessi!

Hello everyone out there! Stef and I have been busy working on 2 art pieces for an art showing back in Aug. The show was based off the street fashion of Japan.

Stef, inspired by the theme, came up with an idea to design these art pieces as Goddesses.

Stef Choi: "These women of Harajuku are so enriched in the landscape of Japan, they have become the landscape themselves."

Each piece was designed by Stef Choi and was then sent over to Joe Mansfield at EngraveYourTech to be laser cut. Check out the video he posted of the actual laser cut process.
From there, we assembled the pieces like a big puzzle. Sanding and shaping each piece to create unique shapes and textures on the design. We then painted the parts using experimental techniques and with the assistance of master painter, Aaron Jarret.
The final touch comes from metal smith Heidi Armour, who created the silver eyelash for Tsukiko-the moon Goddess. Amazing work Heidi!
Lastly we packaged the pieces up to be shipped to LA. Thank you Heidi Sowa for your invaluable help.
Also a special thanks to Kingman Gallagher for your thoughts and inspiration!

Long time no write...
A lot of amazing news here in Portland but for now I would like to end the chapter of Coraline with the release of the new DVD. In the behind the scenes of the DVD, my mug got featured working in the puppet fabrication dept. I am very grateful to have worked on the film and it is nice to have a memory like this as keepsake. Even though all my memories are in the heart.

Hello everyone. Happy last days of 2008.
Stef and I designed and created this piece of animation for some friends who have a theater group in NYC. They are called The Debate society.
These are some of the most talented couple of actors and director that I have had the pleasure of working with.
Stef and I were very proud to be able to work with them on this project,
Cape Disappointment. Which just had a run in NYC, Nov 22-Dec 7.
The style was decided from the beginning that it was going to be in an old Betty Boop, Max Fleischer style cartoon. We got the music of the actors singing the song and Stef designed the characters and background.
I animated the scene.
This was a great time all around. If you get the chance to see this group perform, do not miss it!

Hi again!
I have just been part of an art show of Laika artists called "AFTER HOURS"
The amazing Stef Choi did the flyer for the show that got turned into an amazing window installation and I was in charge of the entertainment for the evening. It was a night to remember for sure!
I also contributed a sculpture for the show. I call it "THE IDEA"
It is made of a 2 part epoxie putty. This made the actual sculpting of the piece fast. Though the actual construction of the wire armature was quite the task. Re-designing the skull is not the easiest thing in the world. I am happy with what came out in such a busy week. I hope you all enjoy my,
"IDEA"!

Welcome to another installment of the Tony and Stef project! Ha, well that is not the official name but we do want to present our newest creation. Called Tres Trumpets. It is our first wood piece. Stef and I did this piece for a current group art show called Flip the Bird at Lunar Boy gallery in Astoria Oregon. She did a little sketch of three birds playing trumpets and I wanted to do something out of wood. Throw in some insperation from 60's Danish furniture and Tres Trumpets was born! Enjoy.

Happy new year everybody! 2008 will be filled with greatness all over. I am happy to start this new years post with a little project that Stef and I came up with called The Christmas ornament party! The plan was to have people over for a Christmas party/ornament art show. We had a few friends bring over some art ornaments and display them in our home gallery. Stef and I designed and created a special Christmas elf riding a magical Whale! We found a great way to make these by hand in some what of a production line method. In about 4 nights we created 16 large scale Whales and 18 smaller Whales (with no elf on top). We had high hopes to sell these little guys and I am proud to say that over the weekend we sold out completely! With such great success and such amazing feedback from people, we have made the decision to keep the Whale alive with some new ideas involving it. So please look forward to seeing more of this lovely magical creature and its new home. Here are some pictures though sadly none of the actual party. It was very much a wonderful Christmas!

Hi everybody!
Just wanted to post about a new art piece that I just got finished with. This one is a first time collaborative piece that Stef Choi and I have done together. It was for a Day of the Dead themed show at gallery Lunar Boy, in Astoria Or.The piece is a working slot machine with light up eyes! In the slots are a variety of skulls that spin when the bone is pulled. Then to top it all off, if you get three beers in a row the machine rings a bell and spits out money. (video coming soon) Im very happy with how it turned out. Hope you enjoy the first Tony/Stef piece.

Hello everybody! I know it has been ages since a post but here is a sneak peak at some behind the scenes of my short film that Im working on. I cant release the name for that is still in the works. It is a 7 minute short film I wrote a while back and have been poking at for the past 6 months. Well, now I amm finally getting the ball rolling! My friend Shae Bordou helped me make a mold of a creature that appears in the film. ( see two posts down)
I will be adding more behind the scenes pics and then an official launch of the movie, hopefully with web site some time before the new year. These are my hopes. So keep an eye out!

Premiering in LA tonight. The gallery is called Gallery 1988 and is showcasing a huge number of artists showing off their memories and representations of 1980's 8-bit video games. I decided to do mine on TRON. I always loved the way the arcade game would glow. The praying fat child is pretty much representing the zen you feel when playing these games as a kid. So here he is. Hello everyone, once again.
This year so far has been insane though enlightening. I posted about a short film I am going to make during my time on Coraline at Laika. This is my insane attempt at doing a project while working a 50 hour week. Which for a lot may not seam that bad but imagine having to be at work at 8 am! Dear god its terrible. Then getting off at 7 pm, by the time I get home I am wrecked. Its terrible. So I came up with this short film idea that will help keep me grounded. It will be a live action film, about 7 minutes long and consists of one main character and a whole bunch of make-up/puppetry. Everything that I have planned out is in an amazing process right now. After getting all the production stuff written down and figured out, now I am getting the dirty work done. Sculpting what needs to be sculpted and creating all the SFX stuff, which will be mainly in camera stuff. So, to explain this picture, this is kind of a spoiler but its OK cause this has been part of my work therapy and should be shared. This is a Chameleon creature that the main character evolves into at the end of the film. When it is all done this will be a combination of puppet and cable control FX. I tried coming up with this design over and over again, then eventually went back to a design I have posted at the beginning of my blog! A one minute picture I did while being intoxicated some night a long time ago. So here is the sculpt that is almost done with the picture that inspired it. Enjoy! And I will keep everyone updated of the film progress. I hope all are well and creating this year.

So Hello and happy 2007 everyone!! Sorry about the lame posting. I swear a new years resolution of mine is to post more. I finally got my art space together and am very excited! (Look foward to pictures and of course new art that cometh forth!)
Today I am posting about something I posted a long time ago. The story goes, my brother Dave and I worked with David Lynch in 2000. Creating 3 rabbit costumes for an online project he was preparing. Well to make a long story short, or should I say short film long, the rabbits are being featured in David Lynch's INLAND EMPIRE! His new film about god knows what. I did not know that they were in the film till I saw the preview. So this is a post letting you all know that you should go see it and hoot and shout when you see them bunnies.

Hello everyone. Here I am again after a crazy past couple months.
I have been in Santa Barbara looking over my family as we are getting through some rough times. My sister got in a horrible car accident. She is now out of critical and doing a lot better. A broken pelvis and some bad skin damage to her back but she is gonna to LIVE! Stef and I are going to be making her a special healing painting that we will be posting later and thank you all to those friends who have been such a great support through all this.
Now I am back in Portland! Before I left to Santa Barbara my buddy Dave Hughes was in town with his girl Kathy visiting us. Sadly my visit was cut short. We did manage to buy 2 Ukuleles and have added them to our ever growing list of instruments. I am currently playing with a few other friends here in Portland who play Ukuleles also and adding other instruments like banjos, violin and anything else we can get our dirty hands on. My pal Paul came up with a great name for the group. CROW CANYON! The same week we got our trademark name another buddy shot a video of a decaying crow being slowely chewed on by a fly.(Great video) I grabbed a screen grab and made this "album cover" for our group. Some may think of it as a little morbid but those who know me will say, "its just right".
So here it is. I will be posting pics of our instruments as soon as I find my camera. Till then LONG LIVE CROW CANYON and ANA Candelaria!

This is a picture from a house that Gaudi built that as you can see, blew my mind. More pictures to come but most likely a Kodak slide show online or something. We took like 400 pics. But all good. And the insperation is hoppin!

Once again its a blast from the past. Well... Not too long ago. My brother called me one night to ask me if I could sculpt a mask for a movie that a friend of ours was making. The movie was called Hostel, by Eli Roth. I cant say that I have the greatest things to say about this director, though I cant hide the fact that he is doing extreamly well and I must commend him for his hard work and keeping slasher horror alive.
I sculpted two masks that were supposed to be in the movie but I guess they found some original torture masks from Europe to use in the scene. I was a little bumbed they did nothing with the masks, I think they even threw them out or something like that. BUT, because my brother is amazing and is a bro, he made a copy from the mold and made his version from what I did. So here is the final product that will never be seen on the big screen but for your viewing pleasure today. I sculpted the thing and he added the cool branch horns and painted it. He wore it at a rennesance fair that he said was rediculous. But a lot of beer and huge tatas all over. Oh yeah... And a lot of WT.

So... I saw the Books last night. And all I can say is thank you! Thank you for the insperation and love and re-realization that everything is rediculous and nuts. I love it. It started off as Stef and I and a couple friends. Then when we got there we met up with about 8 more friends! And then when the Books went on, we were all spread out. And the crowd was so wonderful. People were there to enjoy a show and experience it! That is exactly what we all did. During the show I would look over and see one of my buddies in a trance of thought, then I would look over to the opposite side and see another buddy of mine in a world of their own as well. This was so beautiful to me. SO when I got home, a little tipsy and what not, I painted a picture. One of the first paintings that I just let flow. And listening to both Books albums, this is what came about. Hope you have experienced the same type of feeling at least once in your long life!

Well after a few months of brain racking and hard work from everyone involved, the performance art show I helped design and create pieces for is over. Its sad how fast it went by but the final product was for lack of a better work AMAZING. All three days were sold out over capacity and we had some divine help when it looked like we were running into some major problems. The show was recorded all three nights by a friend of ours. I am going to be helping out producing the DVD that will be loaded with behind the scenes and pictures and even the show (he he).
So I will keep you all informed (those who sadly werent in Portland to see the show). Before I get the pictures of the show I am gonna post some of the designs I did.

The first 3 are designs I did for the senseless characters.(Bobbleheads)
The last 3 are the Receptor character.

So here it is. My piece that I am putting in the Nucleus Unicorn show.
I will give you a run down of why I did this sculpture.
After much research I came across the Christian definition of the unicorn.
The Unicorn to them symbolized Chastity and Purity. Also it was a strong symbol of Christ.
Then I came across a whole chapter about the hunt of the Unicorn. Mainly for its horn and the magical powers that were held therein.
Supposedly it had the power to cure any sickness and expel poisons. This horn also had the power to to purif water (so the other animals could drink from it).
This is what I used as my main inspiration for this sculpt. I kept the painting simple and kind of a black and white photo look to it.

I was really happy with how creepy this came out. At 1 in the morning I was thinking different. But then BAMN! I hit something that I think was a taste of the past feelings I used to have when making masks, or anything in general that was hands on. So I will let the pics speak for themselves. I took these pictures and no Photoshop. The mask is not wet, that is just how the materials look. Which is freakin rad! I love this new product Im using. Awwww Like sweat lemon drops on cold soars. WOW! This was an old schoold treat. From my friend/old band mate VooDoo Jan. He sent me the T-shirt we had for our band the Tommyguns. I hope to one day get some of the songs we did, including a cover of the Munsters theme.
Of course we then took it into ever other song that was in the same tempo and key. MJ's Beat It- Peter Gun, ect, ect.
One day...
but till then, here is the great design done by our Singer/guitar players... Brother in law. Kick ass and it lives on. God Speed.

HI everyone who still stops by!

Hope you had a good Turkey day and that no one got pulled over.
So I just finished 8 months of Flash directing on Coconut Freds Fruit salad island. You can catch it on Sat. mornings at 9 I believe. It will definately get rid of your hang over. This is why I sleep till noon.
OK so lets catch up this week. My brother and I are going to do a stop motion short for a competition that WETA is putting on. The competition consists of making a stop motion film in two weeks. So far so good. But I the week is going by fast already.
So here is one of the characters we are making for it. It is in honor of Ray Harryhausen.

I tried thinking of a mythological being that he has not created yet.

Hello everyone, all my friends and those I don't know. After a nice lonnggg weekend of sleeping in till 2 pm everyday which I forgot how truly satisfying it is, I am now back in full effect at work. I run a flash crew at WB animation and last friday was the last day for my crew. As for me I stay on to do scene revisions and what not. I do miss everyone, though having a bit of time to put headphones on and zone out on work is an amazing thing. If I could only get over the hangover from the weekend. One more night of sleep and Im there I think.

As for what's coming up, me and my girlfriend are planning on getting together an Art show for benefit of the New Orleans mess. I figure we have at least some power in that realm of being able to lend a hand out in one form or another. So if anyone is interested in being part of this art show, then just e-mail me and we shall start it. Here is one I guess I subliminally did of the aftermath of humanity after Katrina's wrath.

Back when I first moved here I was lucky enough to actually get some work as (at the time and my life long goal to be a make-up FX artist) I hooked up with this guy ELI ROTH, director of now hit film, Cabin Fever. At the time he was working as David Lynch's assistant, and this is when Lynch started his online stuff (Dumbland and other shorts) At first I was asked to teach Lynch flash, which came out to be kinda nuts. Till one final day when I was asked to see if I could find a cute girl in a pink sweater to teach him. I had nothing that would fit.
Then soon after that, Eli asked me if I wanted to make three full size rabbit costumes for one of Lynch's shorts. I, of course said yes. Sooo, to make a long story short, we had a guy living with us (my brother and I) who, did nothing but sleep on the couch. He stole a bunch of our stuff on leaving, he took all the pictures and "behind the scenes" stuff from the making of these rabbits. Well till now. I found the Ripped videos of the shorts, that you normally have to pay for at DAVIDLYNCH.com

OK for all ya'll that havent seen anything that I hold dear to my heart, well this is something I did a while back. I figure Im gonna post my old shiza so I never have to think about it again. And start some new shiza. Well lets start the show. This was made for a class that I was attending in Van Nuys (where I now live literally around the corner from) Jordu Schell's Sculpting class. A sculptor for many years on such hit films as... Men In Black, Alien, and Edward Scissorhands. Which he clames the Edward we saw looks like a kid at the goth club wearing his newest Hot Topic rubber gear. Compaired to the designs they had. Ohh if only.
Well once his site is up and running again I will add.
This is a Demon, not the devil. And he was a full headed thing. And slightly bigger than life size. I will take some better pics of him finished. He is a sly one.

Getting In. All right ya'll, Im starting this thing like a tumor on this thing we call the internet superhighway. I wont write too much for the peeps that dont like to read too much.
