The Great HuntUPDATE: You can see and BUY my piece at the online gallery

So here it is. My piece that I am putting in the Nucleus Unicorn show.
I will give you a run down of why I did this sculpture.
After much research I came across the Christian definition of the unicorn.
The Unicorn to them symbolized Chastity and Purity. Also it was a strong symbol of Christ.
Then I came across a whole chapter about the hunt of the Unicorn. Mainly for its horn and the magical powers that were held therein.
Supposedly it had the power to cure any sickness and expel poisons. This horn also had the power to to purif water (so the other animals could drink from it).
This is what I used as my main inspiration for this sculpt. I kept the painting simple and kind of a black and white photo look to it.
Please let me know what you think and hopefully try to see it in real life at the show!
Thanks and take care everyone.

I went to Catholic school for 13 years and never knew that Christians celebrated any kind of mythology other than the obvious elaborate one. Nice work, and thanks for the info.

Really nice work here, Tony.
I have some friends who love unicorns. when i showed this to them, they cried. I did not make this story up.

tony.your unicorn makes me feel like a kid again! kind of in an awkward way, but still, it's a good thing. i love that you were able to take a typical "pretty, princess-y" thing and add so much depth to it-other than on the surface that is. it IS beautiful, but in a non-princess kind of way. great work!
